Say you already run a play school, a tuition centre, or a small activity class, and a few parents have started asking if you teach abacus too. Before you say yes, it helps to know exactly what running a batch actually requires, beyond just knowing the subject yourself. If you are the one who would be teaching, our guide on becoming a certified teacher covers that part. This one is about what it takes to run the batch around it.
The Real List, Not the Short One
Most people picture one thing: a teacher and an abacus. In practice, running a batch that parents keep paying for month after month needs six things working together.
Build It Yourself, or Borrow It Already Built
Here is each of those six things, and what it looks like to put it together yourself versus using a platform that already has it running.
Neither column is wrong. Some institutes genuinely prefer building their own material, and if that describes you, this is not really a decision you need us for. But most people asking this question are trying to say yes to parents quickly, without spending months building infrastructure before the first class even starts.
The Full Institute Platform
Curriculum, tools, tracking, and marketplace listing in one place, plus how white-labeling and multi-branch setups work.
Read the institute guideGrowing Past One Batch
A single batch is a good starting point, but the moment you think about a second one, or a second branch, the maths changes. A physical centre needs an office, printed material, and staff for each new location. A batch on a shared platform does not, since the curriculum, the tools, and the tracking are already the same everywhere.
No new office per branch
Add a batch without adding a location, since everything already runs on one platform.
Your own brand, if you want it
White-labeling puts your name in front of parents while the tested platform runs underneath.
Common Questions
Do I need to be a certified teacher myself to run batches?
Only if you're the one teaching the classes. If you're running the business side and hiring certified teachers, you don't need to be certified personally, though a lot of institute owners go through it anyway so they can step in when needed.
Can I bring students I already teach onto the platform?
Yes. Bulk enrollment moves your whole existing batch on together instead of one student at a time, and each one picks up at their actual level rather than starting over from Level 0.
What does white-labeling actually change?
Your name and branding are what students and parents see. The curriculum, the tools, and the tracking underneath stay the same, tested and already working. It's a conversation about your setup, not a self-serve toggle.
What if I only need a couple of these things, not the whole platform?
That's fine, and it's common. Plenty of institutes just use the curriculum, the practice modes, and the leaderboard under our normal branding and skip white-labeling entirely. Tell us what you actually run and we'll fit it to that.
